Field Day: Specialty Crop Production
Join Heifer USA and New South Produce Cooperative for this farm training event at Whitton Farms in northeast Arkansas with owners & operators Jill & Keith Forrester, now in their 16th year of farming. Participants will learn from their wealth of knowledge and hear about their journey from teachers turned farmers to being recognized as the Farm Family of the Year for Northeast Arkansas.
This event is for those who are currently farming or considering becoming farmers.
Participants will enjoy a private tour of the farm, with 20 acres in specialty crop production, learn from their success (and failures!), engage in question and answer sessions, and learn how their relationship with New South Produce Cooperative, which Jill now serves as the board chair for, has benefited their farm!
Attendees will also be treated to lunch at The Grange in Wilson, Arkansas, and have the opportunity to explore the Forresters’ latest endeavor partnering with Wilson Gardens! Staff representatives from New South Produce Cooperative will also be in attendance and available to answer any questions about how to become a member.
Space is limited to 50 participants, so early registration is advised. Participants are encouraged to arrive by 9:30 a.m. The workshop will begin at 10:00 a.m.
