Learn all about moths, and their importance as pollinators, at this Moth Night at Boiling Springs State Park.
Moths are important pollinators that are often overlooked because most of them are only active overnight. The state of Oklahoma has more than 1,600 species of moths, and they vary in size from microscopic to larger than your hand!
The group will be meeting at the pavilion south of the road south of Shaul Lake. There will be several lights and sheets set up from sunset until 1:00 A.M. Knowledgeable volunteers will be present to help identify moths and other insects that come to the sheets. There will also be a table with information on moths, including field guides and some large mounted moths. Come and learn about the incredible diversity of native moths in Oklahoma!
This event is part of the Oklahoma celebrations of National Moth Week.
