Pollinators
Pollinators are thriving at the Kerr Center! Native bees, butterflies, moths, flies, wasps and beetles pollinate both wild and crop plants. Honey bees are also numerous on the ranch and farm near Poteau. View our gallery for photos of pollinators visiting native plants in our pastures and meadows as well as on cover crops, sunflowers and other plantings in our horticulture plots. One species of native bees we have observed at the Kerr Center is Bombus pensylvanicus, or the American bumble bee, which is becoming rare in some parts of its native range.
