Anyone who’s attended a Kerr Center horticulture workshop in the last umpteen years has been exposed to the idea that crop rotations confer numerous benefits both on the soils they’re carried out on, and on the crops that grow in those soils. Studies hot off the academic presses have just added more support to the notion.
Heirloom Variety Trial Report 2010: Grafted Tomatoes
This report presents the results of our 2010 grafted heirloom tomato variety trial. The trial included grafted and non-grafted plants from both “Brandywine” and “Cherokee Purple” varieties. Neither had performed especially well in our 2009 heirloom tomato trial, so we reasoned that improved performance would be both readily detected and especially welcome in such marketable varieties.
