Cover Crops: National Survey Documents Benefits and Expanded Acreage
More than 90% of farmers participating in a national cover crop survey reported that cover crops allowed them to plant earlier or at the same time as non-cover-cropped fields.
This report was developed from Bill Edgar’s popular presentation from a horticulture session of the 2014 Oklahoma Beginning Farmer & Rancher Program. It describes the demonstration organic market garden that was planted on the Cannon Horticulture Plots for that program that year. The description of the garden includes dates for all operations from planning through harvest, itemized budgets, harvest logs, and links to other resources, including plans for a small-scale greenhouse.
